Eleni Kesisoglou: who doesn't love fairytales!
It's impressive how a single story can inspire such diversity through different mediums! Visual artists from around the world are taking part in WHISTLE project, in an attempt to present a multi-sensory experience never attempted before in the Greek visual art scene. And that's because we do not think of visual art as an experience that when viewed fades away, but as an excuse, a triggering event, a reason to produce an artistic conversation and a literal dialogue with everyone interested. This is the way we feel visual art should work.
In this short article we meet visual artist, Eleni Kesisoglou, from Greece.
How did you learn about the project and why did you decide to participate?
I learned about it on Facebook. I saw it as a new challenge for me, so I decided to take part.
What intrigued you?
The fact that the story revolves around fear and the supernatural. I have worked on something similar in the past, in Lehovo.
How did you work the idea in your head?
I focus on the meaning of "whistle". I learned, I analyzed and I created.
What is your workflow?
First I decided about the materials I was going to use. I wrote. I expressed myself visually and I combined everything into a "book" that needs to be read in different way.

I have been trying for a long time to discover my personal style. My identity. I am trying to "speak" in my own expressive way.

What would you like to communicate to the public?
The poems I have included in my work, speak about what I want to say. Presenting my story through the unusual form of a book, was something that got me thinking a lot.
Whistle as a collaborative project.
I always support collectiveness and synergy in art.
Why should anyone support/come to the exhibition?
As social beings, art is a powerful tool in our hands, when it comes to talking about the things we are preoccupied with. Visual "speech" offers us motive to think and engage into dialogue. Whistle Project is a very interesting suggestion to communicate by creating new horizons, between us.
Do you believe in superstition?
I believe people are living their own fairytale. Being a small group of "existence" in an infinite universe, humans use imagination in order to exist and to exorcise its own demons. Besides, who doesn't like fairytales, regardless their interpretation. We interlard our lives to avoid being indifferent.
All the works created for WHISTLE project by Eleni, will be available to the public during the transmedia exhibition.
Eleni Kesisoglou is an Applied and Fine art graduate, University of West Macedonia, Greece. She has participated in group exhibitions and many of her works are part of private collections. She primarily creates projects where artists are called to work together on a common idea, she proposes. Recent projects: "Cythera Woman", "Vegoritida", "Mother Earth and Vine", Puzzle: Smirni, "Travelogue to Lehovo", "Puzzle for Peace" (work in progress), "the Anticythera Mechanism", "The most complete work of art".
